Claims
I have an appointment with a doctor; what should I do?
In advance of your appointment, complete the first section of your claim form. Take this together with your membership card to your appointment. Ask your doctor/specialist to complete the medical section and send the completed claim form together with the account to BUPA International for payment. For small amounts you may be expected to pay and reclaim the account. However this is a matter for you to agree with your doctor/specialist. With his/her agreement, BUPA International can settle the account directly.
I have to go into hospital; what should I do?
Most hospitals will require direct, written confirmation of your cover by BUPA International. Unless you are admitted in an emergency the hospital should request this confirmation by fax some days before your admission. Take a claim form and your membership card to the hospital on your day of admission. Most hospitals will then submit their bills directly to BUPA International, meaning that you won't need to pay them from your own funds.. It is advisable to check with the hospital in advance that they will settle directly.
Do I have to send in a claim form for each account?
No. One claim form for each medical condition is sufficient. A new claim form will be required for each period of in-patient treatment or if the treatment continues for more than six months.
How will I be paid?
The claim form states all the various options - by cheque or to your bank, to you or to the hospital, in sterling or in the currency of the accounts.
