What hospitals can I use?
You are free to use the hospital of your choice (which is not the case with all insurers). You may also choose the country in which you have your treatment, although you will not be covered for hospitals in the USA unless you have included this in your cover.
Can I choose my own specialist?
You may use specialists in any country provided that they are appropriately qualified for the condition for which you are seeking treatment. However if you want to be covered for specialists in the USA or Canada you must include this in your cover. Therapists and doctors using complementary medicine are also covered. Unless you have selected the top level of cover you are not covered for visits to your GP.
Can I return to my home country for treatment?
Yes, provided that you're well enough to travel. For many people it might be important to be close to family and with BUPA International you are free to choose the country in which you receive your treatment. Your travel costs are not included.
What if the treatment I require is not available where I live?
Optional assistance cover can be purchased, but transfer to another country will only be authorised if you can not get the treatment you require in the country where you are currently residing.
I travel to the USA periodically. How can I ensure I'm covered while I'm there?
We can arrange a travel policy to ensure you're covered for emergencies, provided that any one stay is not longer than 30 days.
